The new season has really started with our crank-up at the West Wilts Society of Model Engineers, Westbury. They had an open day with their trains running and the club-house open for refreshments, and Eric put on another free hot-dog barbeque for exhibitors - thanks for that Eric.

There were quite a few engines there, and once again some really good and unusual ones. John Thorne brought his beautifully prepared Blackstone, Richard McAllister-Bowditch had a splendid (and very unusual) little Fairbanks Morse, Luke Sims his lovely Petter, and Pete Gear a very nice original Petter S Type. Plus many more. The rain held off until after we'd left, and apart from the wind (good old Dave) it was a very pleasant day and we all enjoyed it.

The next event to look forward to will be the Roger Pike memorial crank-up at Lydford. As usual substantial snacks will be available and a raffle will be held at the end of the day. There will be a members vote to find the best engine of the day and the owner will get to hold the Roger Pike trophy until the next time. As long as the weather holds the grass paddock will be used but if it turns out to be too wet we will revert to the concrete hard-standing.

Following that will be the AGM at the end of the month, and a few more volunteers to serve on the committee would be very welcome
